The Athens Stock Exchange closed with major loses on Monday, affected by the crash in the Asian markets, with the general price index dropping by 10.54% and standing at 568.38 points.

The banking sector was under immense pressure, with the shares of Alpha Bank down by 21.74%, National Bank down by 23.67%, Piraeus Bank down by 26.53% and Eurobank down by 19.05%.

Transactions were valued at 39.05 million euros, while the yield of the ten-year bond is at 9.98%.
