The police arrested a 40-year-old man in Korydallos on Monday as he was preparing to sexually assault a 13-year-old boy in a specially-converted van.
According to the police report, the 40-year-old man, who owns a mini market in Kipoupoli, found his victims on line and would often offer to “solve” problems a home or at school. The police came across the 40-year-old during a child pornography operation and placed him under surveillance. After he arranged to meet with his intended victim, the police launched an operation for his arrest.
The 40-year-old man had converted a white van where he raped and sexually assaulted young boys, by installing a bed, lighting and a fan. Inside the van the police found many sweets and deserts, alongside other items he used to satisfy his urges. Child pornography was also found on his mobile phone.
After being processed, it appears that the 40-year-old pedophile had previously been accused of rape last year. The 40-year-old, who is said to have exclusively assaulted boys, reportedly raped a 14-year-old girl “by mistake”, as the nickname she used online was ambiguous. He was arrested and a case-file was promptly sent to the judicial authorities, however he was later released.
This development has caused great tension and the authorities are now trying to discover how the 40-year-old was allowed to walk free.
