MP Niki Founta has formally announced her departure from the Democratic Left, shortly before the critical second vote for the Presidential elections.
Mrs. Founta informed the President of Parliament Evangelos Meimarakis of her decision in writing. She was also one of the eight MPs who favored a consensus.
The newly-independent MP had previously informed DIMAR of her intention to leave the party, but that she would also vote against the Presidential candidate.
Rumors circulating have also suggested that another DIMAR MP, Thomas Psyrras, was also going to announce his departure from the party, something the party denies.
