Nearly 3.6mn taxpayers owe up to 10,000 euros in back taxes (totaling 3.7bn euros), and there are 41,232 taxpayers with tax debts of over 100,000 euros to the state, a total of 91bn euros.
The data was provided by the Independent Public Revenues Authority, in response to a parliamentary question tabled by independent MP Dimitris Kammenos.
The data indicates that over 3.8mn taxpayers owe a total of 101.5bn euros.
There are over 240,000 taxpayers who owe between 10,000 and 100,000 euros to the state.
The largest chunk of back taxes derives from business tax accounts, for which the total debt amounts to 33.3bn euros.
Delinquent VAT debts amounts to over two billion euros, and personal income tax debt amounts to 18.5bn euros.
Delinquent debt on home loans totals 11bn euros.
