Kontonis sent Athens’ Chief Lower Court Prosecutor Elias Zagoraios the minutes of today’ parliamentary debate of New Democracy’s no confidence motion regarding the FYROM agreement, where Barbarousis essentially called for a coup d’etat.
Kontonis told News 24/7 radio that Barbarousis’ statements violate a number of articles of the criminal code and he expressed the view that the MP can be charged on felony counts.
Kontonis said that MPs can be arrested when charged with felonies.
Meanwhile, Supreme Court Prosecutor Xeni Dimitriou also ordered an investigation. Dimitriou reportedly sent Zagoraios articles on Barbarousis’ stance.
Kammenos and Alternate Defence Minister Fotis Kouvelis brought video of Barbarousis’ speech and officially authorised parliamentary minutes to Supreme Court Deputy Prosecutor Evangelos Zaharis and asked him to intervene in the case.
