The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in December 2017 was 20.8%, compared to 23.4% in December, 2016, and the upward revised 21.0% in November 2017,” according to the Hellenic Statistical Authority’s Labour Force Survey, released today.
The data show that 3.76 million people were employed in December.
The number of employed increased by 107,687, compared with December 2016 (a 2.9% rate of increase), and by 8,378 persons compared with November 2017 (a 0.2% rate of increase).
There were 989,000 unemployed. The number of unemployed decreased by 127,352 persons compared with December 2016 (a 11.4% rate of decrease), and by 6,978 persons compared with November 2017 (0.7% rate of decrease).
The number of inactive persons, which is to say individuals that neither work nor look for a job, decreased by 12,702 persons compared with December 2016 (a 0.4% rate of decrease) and by 4,088 persons compared with November 2017 (a 0.1% rate of decrease).
