A new survey conducted by the MRB polling company gives main opposition New Democracy a 9.4 percentage point lead over Syriza, indicating that the conservatives have cemented a substantial advantage over the ruling party.
The poll was conducted between 1-8 December, with face-to-face interviews with 2,000 citizens with voting rights.
The survey gives New Democracy 30 percent of the vote, followed by Syriza with 21.3 percent.
The new centre-left Movement for Change garnered 10.1 percent, far right Golden DAWN 6.3 percent, KKE Communist Party 6.5 percent, the Centrists’ Union 2.8 percent, far left Antarsya 2.8 percent, former parliament speaker Zoe Konstsantopoulou’s Sailing to Freedom party 1.5 percent, and the Syriza splinter party Popular Unity just one percent.
There were 2.2 percent who said they would vote for “another party”, while the “undetermined vote” was 12.8 percent, with the following breakdown – 3.3 percent said they were undecided or refused to answer, and 9.5 percent said they would abstain or cast a blank or spoiled ballot.
