A powerful explosion occurred early on Thursday morning in a fast food shop on Victoria Square, in the city center of Athens. One woman was found dead, while five other people were injured in the explosion.
The five people injured from the explosion and have been taken to the Gennimatas Hospital in Athens. All of them appear to be in good health, as they managed to exit the building on their own.
Early reports indicate that the explosion occurred in the kitchen of the fast food in the basement, with a fire breaking out soon after.
The Fire Brigade is currently on site with 20 firefighters, to extinguish the fire. The thick smoke was reportedly hampering their efforts. The area and electric railway station are currently cordoned off.
