The Foreign Affairs Minister of Turkey Melvut Cavusoglu has taken his cues from President Erdogan and main opposition leader Kilicdaroglu and has made a series of provocative statements.
In an article for Turkish newspaper Milliyet, the Foreign Affairs Minister claimed that “we do not accept the de facto situation” and claimed that the Aegean islets of Imia are Turkish territory.
According to the Turkish official, the Treaties of Lausanne and Paris contain detailed provisions on demilitarization of islands in the Aegean and accused Greece of attempting to establish de fact situations.
