Families of migrants and refugees who desire to return to their country of origin, via the programs of the IMO and Hellenic Police, will be temporarily housed at the revamped facilities at Amygdaleza.
The former migrant detention center has been converted to house about 300 people at a time, on a temporary basis. This center will operate as a closed structure and detention center, with the refugees not expected to stay more than 10 days.
In order to return to their country of origin, interested refugees will have to drop their asylum applications that they may have submitted upon arrival in Greece. As such they will be transported to Amygdaleza, until their embassies issue the relevant travel documents.
