The President of the Lambrakis Press Group (DOL) Stavros Psycharis has issued a statement in relation to the Parliamentary Committee’s examination into loans granted to media groups.
In his statement, Mr. Psycharis explained that while he suffers from a series of health issues, he intends to address all questions. Mr. Psycharis noted that he had requested from the President of Parliament and the Committee for his appearance to be postponed due to his health issues, until an alternative and more suitable of examination method can be found.
Mr. Psycharis further clarified in his statement that he will not respond the questions in relation to Lambrakis Press Group’s loans, since he has already been summoned by Financial Prosecutor and is facing charges on the matter. Therefore Mr. Psycharis declines to answer such questions and remain silent, in order to avoid self-incrimination and to ensure he receives a fair trial.
Additionally, Mr. Psycharis noted that he is unable to comment on the loans of TYLETYPOS, as he was not personally involved and cannot therefore provide any technical details or information. Instead, he added, the committee can take advantage of the depositions of other witnesses who have testified on the matter, in order to facilitate the inquiry.
