The Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras will be in Brussels of Tuesday and Wednesday for a series of meetings on the Greek bailout program review and prior actions for September.
Following the ‘Brexit’ vote last week and the recent summit meeting on the UK’s referendum result, Greece is not at the forefront of interest in Europe, however many high-ranking European officials would prefer for Greece to implement its bailout program quicker.
According to the official schedule, the Greek Prime Minister met with the President of European Parliament Martin Schulz. Government sources revealed that the Tuesday morning talks were mostly focused on post-Brexit Europe, with the European Parliament President underlining that the UK must push forward with its departure, rather than delay the process until the fall. In light of the British referendum result, the two agreed that it is important for the European Union to further support its social agenda
While in Brussels, the Greek Prime Minister is also scheduled to meet with the Chairperson of the Confederal Group of the European United Left – Nordic Green Left Gabi Zimmer, as well as Rebecca Harms, Philippe Lamberts and Ska Keller of the Greens.
