Despite the apparent failure of anti-smoking regulations, a study has shown that the Greek people are actually smoking less.
According to the study, 27.3% above the age of 15 are regular smokers, 5.3% are occasional smokers and a whopping 67.4% do not smoke. The study also shows that 51.4% have never smoked, while a further 16% has quit smoking for at least 6 months.
Compared to a similar study carried out in 2009, there is a 14.4% drop in regular smokers, but also an 11.7% rise in occasional smokers.
Finally, the study shows that 39.4% of men smoke on a regular or occasional basis, compared to 26.4% of women.
