The Democratic Left has issued a statement underlining the need for a separation of the Church and State, while criticizing SYRIZA for being hostage its “national populist partner” the Independent Greeks.
Specifically the opposition party accused the government of failing to carry out reforms that have nothing to do with bailout requirements and which are longstanding demands from the Left.
The opposition party notes that the Church must be taxed and relations with the State need to be re-evaluated. The statement also stresses that the format of Religious education in schools must also change.
