The former leader of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff General Mikhail Kostarakos has been appointed chairman of the European Union’s Military Committee, succeeding General Patrick de Rousiers.

General Kostarakos was elected president of the EUMC about a year ago and will remain in office for three years.
