The possibility of the government requesting a vote of confidence, which in turn may trigger early general elections in the next few months, is rather likely, according to SYRIZA MEP Dimitris Papadimoulis.
Mr. Papadimoulis, who appeared on SKAI, clarified that it was import to secure the agreement with the European Support Mechanism, so that the first tranche may be paid out and the program may begin to be implemented.
When asked whether there was any chance of appeasement within SYRIZA to avert any further departures, Mr. Papadimoulis responded negatively. Nevertheless, he stated that only SYRIZA may provide political stability and estimated that this will become apparent in the next few months.
The MEP also underlined that the SYRIZA-led government must expedite its efforts in tackling corruption, tax evasion, bureaucracy, investments and supporting the more vulnerable sections of Greek society.
