New Democracy MP Dora Bakoyanni has reportedly asked from Antonis Samaras to step down from the party’s leadership, in a phone call on Saturday.
Mrs. Bakoyanni is said to have asked for Mr. Samaras’ resignation for reason, to reassure the Greek people that if a ‘yes’ vote prevails on Sunday’s referendum that Mr. Samaras is not going to reclaim power.
Furthermore, Mrs. Bakoyanni told him that she does not intend to run for party leadership, however Mr. Samaras rejected her request.
ONNED president also calls Mr. Samaras to step down
The President of New Democracy’s Youth Organization (ONNED) Sakis Ioannidis commented that the referendum result reflected a condemnation of the old political world, arguing that Mr. Samaras must resign from his post.
