The nationwide federation of local government employees (POE OTA) has announced a walk out at noon on Tuesday and a protest outside the Ministry of Interior on Klafthmonos Square at 12:30.
In its announcement POE OTA explains that it is reacting to the privatization of waste management in certain municipalities and the government’s decision to extend contracts with private sector cleaning firms. Amongst the municipalities that are privatizing waste management are Elefsina, Kerkyra, Malevizi, Pangeo, Ioannina, Parga, Souli and more.
Additionally, the employee federation is demanding that a ban on new municipal recruitments be lifted.
