The Minister of Labor Panagiotis Skourletis has argued that general elections may be called, should the Greek government be unable to come to an “honest and advancing compromise” with the creditors.
Mr. Skourletis, who spoke to SKAI on Tuesday morning, underlined that the government’s top priority is the payment of wages and pensions, rather than the IMF loan payments. According to the Labor Minister, the Greek government has made the “maximum of concessions” in the negotiations and noted that “the other sides act like governors”.
When asked about State Minister Nikos Pappas’ recent statement regarding party discipline when the agreement is brought before Parliament, Mr. Skourletis explained that while the government must avoid any loss of its majority in Parliament, there can be no “directives” on this matter, before the agreement is finalized, and that party discipline in this case is not helpful.
