The parliamentary spokesperson for SYRIZA Nikos Filis revealed that there are no funds set aside for the payment of the next IMF loan payment that is due on the 5th of June. Mr. Filis told Alpha 98.9 FM that there were only funds to pay wages and pensions next month.
“It is not possible for the loan program to have unilaterally been suspended; it is not possible for us to pay for the loan from the budget. The creditors are obliged to implement the loan agreement” he added.
Furthermore, Mr. Filis did not rule out the possibility of a referendum being carried out, should the negotiations not have the desired outcome. He explained that “we will not accept an agreement that does not include a commitment to finance the economy”.
