The Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras visited President Karolos Papoulias at noon ton inform him of the Presidential election candidate and the developments in the European negotiations. He told the President that “we are in the middle of meaningful, difficult negotiation. Nothing has occurred which did not expect. We expected difficulties and pressure, what we did not expect is the proud reaction of the Greek people”.
Mr. Tsipras added that the demonstrations of support across Europe and the contacts with foreign leaders prove that Greece is no longer isolated, that Greece is at a crucial turning point which he hopes to overcome. President Papoulias responded that “it is a historic period for all of Europe” and expressed his hope that the Greek government is successful in its actions for the benefit of the Greek people.
The PM also contacted the chief of The River Stavros Theodorakis to inform him on the latest developments regarding the Greek program and the recent Eurogroup. The two have arranged to meet at 1pm. The Prime Minister will then meet the President of PASOK Evangelos Venizelos at 2pm.
