The leader of The River Stavros Theodorakis was pleased that his party has managed to become the “third democratic power” in Greece after only 300 days of existence. Mr. Theodorakis claimed that his party supporters did not vote for him out of anger, but rather after rational and courageous thought and stressed that it is not time for celebrations as the country “is still near the brink”.
Furthermore, Mr. Theodorakis underline the importance of major alliances and the need for a “patriotic action plan”. He also stated that he is prepared to discuss the parameters of his support in such plans. Mr. Theodorakis is rumored to meet with SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras over the next two days to discuss the possibility of an alliance.
Mr. Theodorakis also stressed that Golden Dawn’s increased presence for a second consecutive election was a “bad sign” and stressed that the real causes of such a phenomenon must be sought out.
