The Ministry of Administrative Reform has announced that since 2010, a total of 5,260 civil servants appear to have exported about 1.5 billion euros in foreign accounts. This means that, on average, each of these employees has hidden about 285,000 euros!

Furthermore, the Ministry claims that 415 of the 5,260 employees were not employed anymore in the public sector when they appear to have carried out the money transfers attributed to them. It appears that these 415 employees had submitted retirement applications during the inspections which were being carried out in order to determine whether their funds could be justified and if they were legally exported.

Earlier in the day the Minister of Administrative Reform Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the General Secretary of Public Revenue Katerina Savvaidou met to discuss the serious matter.
