The American and European sanctions against Russia are expected to have a major effect on Greek exports, as Russia has countered with an embargo of fruit and vegetable imports from Poland.
According to a report in Ta Nea, Greece will be greatly affected by the embargo, as Greek produce, such as peaches, are imported to Russia via Poland for tax purposes.
Russia imports about 406 million euros worth of agricultural products, which could have a significant effect on Greek farmers, who are troubled by Greek declining exports.
While Russia only receives a 1.3% of all Greek exports, it imports 24% of all fruit exported, with a value of about 100 million euros. Russia specifically imports 25% of peaches and 50% of strawberries that are exported by Greece.
