Greece announces ban of imports from Crimea and Sevastopol

Products from Crimea and Sevastopol will no longer be imported in Greece after the implementation of he EU’s Foreign Affairs..

Products from Crimea and Sevastopol will no longer be imported in Greece after the implementation of he EU’s Foreign Affairs Council decision of the 23rd of June 2014. The ban will exempt imports until the 26th of September which are related to trade agreements that were singed by the 25th of June.

The EU council has specifically banned the import of products from Crimea and Sevastopol, except those which have been certified by the Ukrainian government. The ban is in response to the annexation of the Crimean peninsula by Russia earlier in the year.

The value of imports from Ukraine to Greece is estimated to be between 150 to 200 million euros. The vast majority of Ukrainian imports are soybeans and corn as well as cold and hot-rolled flat products.
