The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport announced that it has secured 900 million euros in funding from the European Investment Bank and the Partnership Agreement (the new “NSRF”) in order to expand the metro and suburban railway in Athens.
The funds will be used to construct line 4 of the Metro, which will start at the Veikou park in Galatsi and will go through Kypseli, Exarchia an terminate at the Evangelismos hospital. The Ministry also secured funds in order to expand the suburban rail network from Koropi towards the port city of Lavrio.
