The evaluation committee which has been tasked with reviewing the medical specialties in EOPYY has completed its evaluation and will present their findings to the Minister of Health Adonis Georgiadis.

With the completion of the review, the suspension and mobility scheme concerning doctors in the healthcare provider can begin, in cooperation with the Ministry of Administrative Reform. The Minister of Health did not rule out any dismissals in his interview to Vima 99.5 on Thursday.

The EOPYY doctors have vowed to continue their strike action and have scheduled a press release for Monday, where they will repeat their intention to continue their strike until the Ministry provides the necessary guarantees that there will be no dismissals.

In an interview to SKAI radio on Friday, the Minister committed to expanding the medical specialty of contracted EOPYY doctors and noted that the reforms in healthcare must necessarily serve budgetary targets. He also accused the striking doctors of being “possessed by a 1980s verbalism”.

The Minister also revealed that doctors who will be dismissed from EOPYY during the review process will be offered contracts for 200 patient visits per month, with each visit valued at 10 euros.
