Five migrant workers beaten up for refusing to work

A new «Manolada» incident took place in Messara, Crete when five Pakistani workers were viciously attacked from their livestock farmer employers for refusing to work until they were paid their outstanding wages. The Police then arrested the workers, since they do not have the relevant residence permits, and is still searching for the employers.

According to the Efimerida ton Syntakton newspaper, the five Pakistani employees told the police that they did not show up for work on Wednesday as they had not been paid for months and were celebrating the Eid al-Adha religious holiday. The father and son employers were angered by the refusal to work and assaulted them with clubs and sticks before disappearing.

The five victims were taken to the local health center for first aid and were later arrested by the police because they did not have residence permits.
