The Interim Managing Transport Authority will complete its study over the next few weeks regarding the changes to take place in transportation in Attica. The main plan is to develop two perimeters.
The first will include the urban areas of Athens that will be handled by public transportation, while the other perimeter, covering cross-country connection, will be handled by local KTEL services. The plan is to keep the two perimeters of overlapping, to avoid unnecessary fuel and man-hour expenditure.
The urban transport organization OASA will also be restructuring its services, in order to provide a more reliable service to passengers. In order to compensate for the limited reach of subway and tram services, new connection hubs will have to be established. The Ministry of Growth and Infrastructure is working towards establishing a service frequency of seven minutes.
STASY transfers 144 employees to ticket sales and inspection
Meanwhile, 102 administrative employees of STASY have been transferred to the understaffed ticket booths, while 42 other employees will now be tasked with inspecting tickets. Tension was caused outside STASY’s offices, when unionists protested the decision.
