The Federation of Fuel Station Owners (OVE) has requested that the police take preventative measures in order protect them, in light of the recent murder of a fuel station owner in Kyllini on the 31st of May.
The Federation explains that it was the third time the particular owner was robbed; only this time unfortunately, the thief shot and killed the owner. OVE also notes that they earn very little, but generate a lot of income for the state as “unofficial tax collectors”.
In their announcement, the federation explains that “unfortunately fuel station owners are required to pay the State the entire sum of indirect taxes attributed to stolen fuel. The worst thing though is the loss of life […] fuel stations remain the easiest and quickest targets of all sorts of thieves, confirmed by the increased number of attacks”.
