A 36-year-old man has been arrested by the police in relation to the murder of a 48-year-old man in the village Kamarates near Arta. According to police sources, the 48-year-old victim from Philippiada was reported missing by his mother on Tuesday, although it appears he had disappeared on the 11th of February.
The police investigation has so far revealed that the victim and suspect had differences and met at Kamarates, where the suspect lives. The 36-year-old allegedly shot the 48-year-old in the head and then attempted to hide the body. Police sources report that the 36-year-old dismembered the body and dumped the remains in the river Arachthos, which the police are still investigating.
So far, the police have not yet determined the motives behind the crime, however the suspect has had trouble in the past with authorities over drugs.
