Union representatives of Coast Guard employees have revealed the plan to drastically reduce the number of regular patrols, in order to save fuel for special cases, as demanded by the Coast Guard Head Quarters.
The order, which has been sent to coast guards and port authorities, mentions that due to fuel shortages, they should avoid patrols! The order will be in effect regionally, until the problem can be restored. The coast guard relies on fuel from the army and local businesses.
Coast Guard unionists also note that the order did not surprise them, since the dramatic cuts in the security forces have been happening on a daily basis for years, despite being reported and condemned. The unionists also fear that the cuts will affect safety of citizens.
