The nationwide union of navigators has called off the 48-hour strike that was originally planned for Wednesday the 13th of February. The union was threatening the government with rolling 48-hour strikes, over a number of provisions regarding the Navigation Service from an upcoming Ministry of Shipping bill.
In response, the International Maritime Union addressed the Minister of Shipping Kostis Mousouroulis, warning him of the consequences of a prolonged strike. According to the IMU, shipping firms will seek out alternative ports, with dire consequences on local shipping.
