The Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate Change has decided upon a new deadline for anyone wanting to take care of building violations. Deputy Minister S. Kalafatis signed the ministerial decree, extending the deadline until the 31st of May.
The extension was expected, as so far about 474,000 statements have been made and the government has collected far less than it expected. At the same time, the amendment allowing for the legitimization of such structures, which was expected to generate more interest, is not ready yet. The Ministry is expected to grant permanent titles to the owners of buildings with minor violations.
