The federations of gas station owners have demanded that the government reduce the special consumption tax that has been imposed on heating oil, stating that it is the only realistic option for consumers, public income and the environment.

In their announcement they explain that “the reality is that the politics applied have lead to a social, financial and environmental ‘Waterloo’. Thousands of families are doomed to cold, the State lost income because of the decrease of heating oil and the atmosphere in all cities is full of poisons from fire-places and wood-burners. Common sense dictates that the error is recognized and the necessary corrective moves are made”.

Regarding the smuggling of fuel, in their statement the federations insist that if input/output control systems were implemented throughout the fuel trade, “the problem would have been solved without impoverishing society”.
