Dear German people First of all I have to say that, even though Germany in its struggle to take a position according to its power among the dominating nations of the world had caused twice the destruction of Europe and Greece alike during 20th century, I always had admired Germans, I liked their effectiveness, their creativity, their organized state and the quality in whatever they make. I admire them and If possible I would like to see some of those German characteristics to my country, Greece.
As a Greek citizen the last two dark years of humiliations fear anger disappointments, I tried –o,.to put aside all those sentiments in order to think and to decide in the best possible way. I can’t forget how many times bild has humiliated my country with its articles, the same way I don’t like German EU partners to be called Nazis in Greece. What I have to say is that extreme ideas and voices exist in both countries and we must not let them to make us think decide and act the way they want.
The real problem with euro zone is that we have a merely monetary union between different economies without the foundations and the tools that will defend that union from opportunistic attacks. For more than two years Spain and Italy borrow with 6% interest imagine how much money have earned those you who lend them, they will keep attacking us as long as they have such a huge profit. We lack common economic policy and a central economic control that will give place for the creation of the Eurobond, the final solution. Many thinks have to be done and most of them from Germans as the most powerful nation of Europe.
This is a very difficult task, I agree, but if you keep thinking and acting as bild does Europe is doomed. But in a way the crisis will give a push for a more united Europe if Europe of course wants to exit the crisis not in pieces. Have you ever thought ,which was the most favored country from the EU-euro? It was you, it opened a 500000000 citizens market and for an industrialized exporting country as Germany this was heaven on earth. Yes Greece has to make the necessary reforms yes we haven’t done it for many decades but if it wasn’t Greece it would be another country exactly because the monetary union has these weaknesses who give the opportunists the possibility to have huge profits.
By imposing us only austerity measures without any other toll to overcome the crisis will lead us nowhere, a proof of that is all the countries even those who have followed the memorandum by the book (Portugal, Ireland and recently Spain) are for more than two years in decline and probably the first two will need a second aid. Finally what you have to understand is that no single European nation not even Germany can stand against the new rising global powers. Unification is the only option for Europe if Europe wants to regain the position of global domination which had for many centuries and lost the past century mainly because of the two world wars caused by Germany.
You Germans have to fight your tendency to destroy Europe and yourselves by your might. It would be the best for all of us.
