The courts handed out life-time sentences to Dionisis Liakopoulos and Christos Stergiopoulos for the murder of 27-year-old migrant worker Shehzad Luqman in Petralona in January 2013.
The Athens court issued a unanimous verdict and found the two men guilty of complicity to murder and did not recognize any mitigating circumstances and objections presented by the defense. As such, the two men will face an additional 32 months imprisonment for weapons charges and a 1,500-euro fine.
Last week, the prosecution argued that the two defendants be found guilty and underlined their racist motives. Civic prosecution lawyer Thanasis Kampagiannis note that “it was a premeditated cold-blooded racist crime that was carried out by two knife-wielding thugs associated with the neo-Nazi Golden Dawn gang”.
