SYRIZA MEP and professor of Constitutional Law Kostas Chrysogonos has argued that there must be more than just financial criteria in the television licensing tender in order to safeguard the country’s public sphere.
In an interview on SKAI, Mr. Chrysogonos commented that additional criteria must be in place, in order to avoid media being in the control of individuals associated, for example, with organized crime.
The MEP argued that measures must be taken so that “Pablo Escobar’s henchmen” do not end up in “key positions in the democracy of Columbia”.
