The majority of the Greek people are in favor of remaining in the Eurozone and reaching an agreement with the creditors, according to a survey conducted by Marc for the Alpha televisions station.
Specifically, 77.1% favored an agreement with the creditors, while only 18.9% favored a rupture. Additionally, 77.4% of respondents want the euro, rather than a return to the drachma and 75.5% wants Greece to remain a part of the European Union.
About 54.8% is fearful of a default and about 50.2% believe that the Greek government should accept the agreement proposal of the creditors.
Should the negotiations reach an impasse, only 13.8% supports calling general elections, while 44.2% favor the formation of a national unity government.
Finally, when asked how they would vote, if elections were to take place tomorrow, the respondents answered as follows
- SYRIZA – 34.2% (from 35.6% in April)
- New Democracy – 19.6% (from 20.8% in April)
- The River – 6.3%
- KKE – 5.2%
- Golden Dawn – 5%
- Independent Greeks – 3.7%
- PASOK – 3.2%
