The Ministers of Finances, Labor, Agricultural Growth and Environment will meet the president of the federation of Karditsa farming unions, who is representing the committee of farmers.
By noon, the farmers represented by the Nationwide Farmer Coordination Body will begin leaving the blockades. Representatives of the body met the Prime Minister on Friday and relayed their positions and demands. Following the meeting, the deputy ministers of Finances and Agricultural Reform agreed to establish a committee to work on securing an exclusive diesel rate for farmers.
The secretary of the nationwide coordination body Christos Gontias explained that the departure from the roadblocks was decided upon over the weekend and is expected to be complete by Wednesday, when other groups of farmers will have met with relevant ministers. Mr. Gontias noted that the farmers can pursue other forms of activism to pressure the government.
