Unions denounce police presence at meeting

15.2.13

Representatives of public and private sector unions protested outside the Ministry of Public Order over the presence of uniform police at the union coordination meetings.

ADEDY issued a statement claiming that “the commander of Acropolis PD and the uniformed police officers themselves admitted that they were ordered to investigate any issues of ‘law and order” during the coordination meetings of primary unions, proving that this event is part of the tension strategy the government has decided to use against employees and unions. It confirms that the government’s anti-democratic downfall continues”.

ADEDY also notes that the workers will give their own answer to the government’s harsh, unpopular austerity measures, with a mass protest on the 24-hour general strike of the 20th of February.
