The nationwide maritime federation PNO has announced that it will participate in the GSEE and ADEDY-sponsored 24-hour strike, so there will be no shipping on the 20th of February.
PNO demands the measure of mobilization the bill proposed by the Ministry of Shipping be repealed. The proposed bill will bring a number of changes to the employment relationship of maritime workers and the application of collective labor agreements.
The maritime federation also restated its demands to combat unemployment of Greek maritime workers. PNO has asked for outstanding wages be paid, seafaring maritime workers to be exempt from taxation and reinstating the “natural” maritime insurance body “Sailor’s House”. The federation has requested the support of all active and retired maritime workers in the actions against the ministry’s bill.
On the 21st of February PNO members are scheduled to discuss collective labor agreements with the leadership of the Passenger Shipping Association. PNO has requested a new agreement for the Adriatic and Aegean routes, which have remained the same since 2010 and 2011 respectively.
