The Prime Minister Antonis Samaras is expected to be present at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, for the signing of the agreement between Albania, Greece and Italy, for the construction of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP). Also present at the ceremony will be the government representative of Azerbaijan.
The TAP will participate in a competition for the distribution of natural gas from Azerbaijan, which will end in June 2013. According to the plan, the natural gas will go from the Caspian Sea via Greece, Albania and the Adriatic Sea of Southern Italy, further westward in Europe.
The TAP, which will pave the “Southern route”, is the only pipeline plan including Greece. The estimated 1.5 billion euros will amount to one of the greatest foreign investments in Greece.
