As of Thursday, the 14th of February, Democritus University will be operating once again, as the Ministry of Education has approved its budget.
The university set its budget after a Senate decision, as it has not yet ratified its management committee. Due to this delay in approving the university’s budget, the Senate decided to cease operations at the institution for a week.
The Senate decision on the budget was eventually ratified and the university funding has resumed as normal. The university’s Rector Kostas Remelis commented on tovima.gr that the Minister of Education Konstantinos Arvanitopoulos’ response to the matter was prompt.
