The union of local government employees POE-OTA has announced a 48-hour strike in support of social structures employees. In their announcement, POE-OTA has requested employees in programs (such as “Help at Home”) and local government meet at Klafthmonos Square at 10am on Wednesday.
The union details employee demands in their announcement:
- Legal assurances that social structures employees will continue working.
- Immediate formation of Social Services in every municipality and staffing them with experienced and specialized employees.
- Immediate payment of outstanding wages.
- “Ceasing the government plant of creating social cooperatives that lead to the destruction of social structures and further tax burdens”.
