China’s e-commerce giant Alibaba is seeking to expand its operations to Greece, with the company’s managing director for Italy, Spain, Portugal and Greece Rodrigo Foresio currently in Athens for talks with Greek businesses and government officials.
Following a meeting with senior Alibaba officers, the president of the Athens Chamber of Tradesmen Yannis Hatzitheodosiou commented that the synergy of Greek enterprises is necessary to incorporate Greek products in large e-commerce platforms. Alibaba’s Foresio explained that Chinese consumers are turning to the international market, with the company’s 430 million customers valuing quality products.
A meeting between Alibaba and government officials was also held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday, where the Chinese company detailed its investment plans for Greeece.
