The School of Philosophy at the University of Athens has announced that it will suspend its operations due to the ongoing lack of cleaning services.
The Rector of the University of Athens Theodosis Pelegrinis appeared on Mega Channel and described a dramatic and shameful situation on the university grounds.
Mr. Pelegrinis explained that after the contract with the cleaning services expired, but the relevant authorities rejected the open competition for a new contract. Without any legal provisions regarding cleaning until the open bid is carried out and a new contract is signed, the situation at the university has deteriorated.
The Rector added that he has already met with the Ministers of Finances and Education regarding the matter and expressed his hope that the situation would quickly be resolved.
