The US House subcommittee for European affairs called the Turkish government to “to facilitate the reopening of the Ecumenical Patriarchate’s Theological School of Halki without condition or further delay”.
The subcommittee took the unanimous decision to “remind” the Turkish government of the 17 century history of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, which represents about 300 million Orthodox Christians.
Finally, the subcommittee noted that the issues regarding the reopening of the Theological School have repeatedly been posed by members of the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe and the American envoy to the annual summit of the human rights committee.
